ABOUT

The #BlackSLPMagic Conference is more than an event—it’s a powerful movement rooted in visibility, advocacy, and collective empowerment. Created to address the internal and external challenges faced by underrepresented professionals, students, clients, and patients in Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology, and the broader Allied Health fields, this in-person experience bridges the gap between social media advocacy and meaningful, real-world action. At its core, the conference stands firmly against racism, discrimination, health disparities, and the ongoing underrepresentation that continues to impact Black and Brown communities and professionals.

Founded by Chelsie Esek Onyeahialam, of @EsekHealth, the #BlackSLPMagic Conference has grown into a transformative annual gathering that brings together over 300 minority professionals, students, thought leaders, vendors, and partner organizations from across the globe. Participants engage in a full day of compelling panel discussions, expert-led sessions, and community-driven conversations designed to educate, inspire, and mobilize. Beyond professional development, the event offers continuing education credits (CEUs), professional development hours (PDHs), networking opportunities, and access to a vibrant vendor marketplace.

Attendees are welcomed with curated experiences that include great food and drinks, live music, photo moments, complimentary gifts, and an unforgettable celebration of identity and excellence. The energy extends into the evening with the SLP Social Seen After Party—a one-of-a-kind networking event where attendees can celebrate, connect, and just be themselves in a space designed for joy and authenticity. With every detail, the #BlackSLPMagic Conference creates a space where you can feel safe, seen, supported—and fully celebrated.

Mission, Value, and Purpose:

The #BlackSLPMagic Conference is committed to empowering underrepresented communities across the allied health fields by centering Support, Safety, and Significance. Through advocacy for neurodiversity, gender diversity, trans visibility, and racial equity, we create inclusive spaces that amplify marginalized voices and foster meaningful change. Our mission is to turn visibility into power and dialogue into impact—while celebrating the excellence and magic within our communities.
